Strawberries

There were never strawberries
like the ones we had
that sultry afternoon
sitting on the step
of the open french window
facing each other
your knees held in mine
the blue plates in our laps
the strawberries glistening
in the hot sunlight
we dipped them in sugar
looking at each other
not hurrying the feast
for one to come
the empty plates
laid on the stone together
with the two forks crossed
and I bent towards you
sweet in that air
in my arms
abandoned like a child
from your eager mouth
the taste of strawberries
in my memory
lean back again
let me love you

let the sun beat
on our forgetfulness
one hour of all
the heat intense
and summer lightning
on the Kilpatrick hills

let the storm wash the plates

Morangos

Nunca houve morangos
como os que tivemos
naquela tarde tórrida
sentados nos degraus
da veneziana aberta
de frente um para o outro
seus joelhos encostados nos meus
os pratos azuis em nossos colos
os morangos brilhando
na luz quente do sol
que molhamos no açúcar
olhando um para o outro
sem apressar a festa
para chegar ao fim
os pratos vazios
deitados sobre a pedra juntos
com os dois garfos cruzados
e me aproximei de você
doce daquele jeito
nos meus braços
abandonado como uma criança

Jill can see Jack can’t see,
and can’t see he can’t see.
Jill can see WHY
Jack can’t see,
But Jill cannot see WHY
Jack can’t see he can’t see.

Jack ‘sees’ Jill is blind
and that Jill can’t see she is.
Jack realises they both are.
If the blind must lead the blind, it is as well
that the leader knows he is.

They are not having fun.
I can’t have fun if they don’t.
If I get them to have fun, then I can have fun with them.
Getting them to have fun, is not fun. It is hard work.
I might get fun out of finding out why they’re not.
I’m not supposed to get fun out of working out why
they’re not.
But there is even some fun in pretending to them I’m not
having fun finding out why they’re not.

A little girl comes along and says: let’s have fun.
But having fun is a waste of time, because it doesn’t
help to figure out why they’re not having fun.

How dare you have fun when Christ died on the Cross for you! Was He having fun?

R.D.Laing

Guru da contracultura nos anos 60, R.D.Laing, nascido em Glasgow em 1927. Laing revolucionou a visão de psicose no seu livro “The divided self”, e embora fosse associado com a anti-psiquiatria, ele rejeitava o rótulo. Laing também era músico e escreveu um livro de poemas, Knots.
